Ron Rivera is leaning on those he trust for his coaching staff. The Washington Redskins head coach has tapped into last stop, the Carolina Panthers, for majority of his assistants.

While we already know about ex-Panthers hires such as offensive coordinator Scott Turner, offensive line coach John Matsko, wide receivers coach Jim Hostler, defensive line coach Sam Mills III, ESPN’s John Keim revealed additional names that have signed with Redskins who were once part of Rivera’s staff in Carolina. The list includes Rivera’s son, Vincent Rivera, as a quality control coach.

Vincent Rivera (Defensive Quality Control Coach)

The Redskins also have defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio’s son, Luke Del Rio, on as a quality control coach.

Rivera, a former wide receiver at California, was a defensive quality control coach with the Panthers the past two seasons. Vincent Rivera is Ron’s nephew.

Ben Jacobs (Assistant Special Teams Coach)

Jacobs played in the NFL from 2011-2018, mostly on special teams. Jacobs played for the Carolina Panthers from 2013-2018 before he was released on Feb. 11, 2019. He was then named as assistant special teams coach for the 2019 season.

Now he will serve under Redskins’ holdover, special teams coach Nate Kaczor.

Travelle Wharton (Assistant Offensive Line Coach)

Wharton was a 2004 third-round pick of the Panthers. He started 111 games with Carolina from 2014-2011 and 2013.

Wharton transitioned into an offensive line coach in 2015 at his Alma mater South Carolina before joining the Panthers’ coaching staff in 2018 as an assistant offensive line coach.

Drew Terrell (Assistant Wide Receivers Coach)

Terrell was an offensive assistant in 2017 at the University of Michigan along side Scott Turner. He followed Turner to the Panthers in 2018 as an offensive quality control coach.

Richard Rodgers (Assistant Defensive Backs Coach)

Rodgers joined the Panthers staff in 2012 as a special teams assistant coach. He would become the special teams coordinator from 2013-2014 before he moved to assistant defensive backs coach in 2015. He added safeties coach to his title in 2016 and in 2018 was the Panthers secondary coach.

Brett Nenaber Director of Athletic Performance

Nenaber started with the Panthers in 2013 as a strength and conditioning intern. In 2015 he was promoted to athletic performance analyst.
