It didn’t take long for Jay Gruden to land back in the NFL. The former Washington Redskins head coach has agreed to become the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offensive coordinator.

Gruden was the Redskins head coach from 2014 until 2019. He was fired following a Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots. He finished with a 35-49-1 record with the Redskins that included one NFC East division title and one playoff game during his tenure.

Now, Gruden will serve under Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone. Gruden will be tasked with developing 2019 sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew II. He will have Leonard Fournette at running back, who is developing as a pass catcher as well as an exception back. DJ Chark and Dede Westbrook head Jacksonville’s receiving corps.

Gruden was also an offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-2013 before landing the Redskins’ head coach position.

Bengals QB Andy Dalton threw for a career-high 4,293 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2013 with Gruden. The Bengals reached the playoffs in all three seasons Gruden was there, peaking with 11 wins in his final season as offensive coordinator as Cincinnati’s offense was sixth in scoring and 10th in yards.
