Official who worked CAA tournament at Wizards’ practice facility has coronavirus

The Colonial Athletic Association released a statement confirming an official, who worked the men’s conference tournament this past weekend, has contracted the coronavirus. The tournament was held from March 7 thru March 10 at the St. Elizabeth’s East entertainment and sports arena in Southeast Washington, DC. The facility is home to the WNBA’s Washington Mystics and NBA G-League’s Capital City Go-Go. The Washington Wizards is the NBA also practice in the faculty.

The official did not exhibit symptoms of the virus until 72 hours after the game he worked, but out of an abundance of caution the conference has made the involved institutions and tournament personnel aware of the situation so they can take proper precautionary measures.

The Mystics are not in season. Meanwhile, the Go-Go recently had a string of road games.

In the wake of the NBA suspending their regular season, along with the G-League, due to the outbreak, the Wizards announced the team and its staff will undergo a self-quarantine that will last three to four days.

Utah Jazz All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday. The Wizards played the Jazz in Utah on Feb. 29 and the New York Knicks on Mar. 10, who played the Jazz on Mar. 4.
