Giancarlo Stanton feasted off the Washington Nationals in the first two games of the season. The New York Yankees slugger went 4-of-6 with two home runs, including a an eye-opening rocket shot of a home run Saturday that traveled 483 feet at an exit velocity of 121.3 mph.
On Sunday, Nationals lefty starter Patrick Corbin was able to cool off the red-hot Stanton with a strikeout in their first face-off. The Nationals social media took notice, and used the chance to troll Stanton.
Corbin got Stanton swinging with a nasty slider. But it may not be such a good idea highlighting Stanton’s shortcoming, considering how dangerous he is at the plate. That’s especially against the Nationals with 22 career home runs at Nationals Park.
Yet, Corbin got Stanton swinging again off a slider in the fourth in their second face-off.
