Former Washington Football Team running back Derrius Guice faces multiple domestic violence related charges stemming from three separate incidents. At the center of the charges, Guice allegedly strangled his girlfriend until she fell unconscious, according to courts documents obtained by the Washington Post.
The alleged incident occurred on March 13.
After the March incident, the woman had to leave to catch a flight at BWI, according to the charging documents. She told investigators she was in a hurry and did not look in the mirror until she arrived for a layover in Chicago. The woman took a photo of her injuries in a restroom, according to the charging documents. She suffered bruising to her neck, which also had colored spots on it, according to the charging documents.
The same woman also sustained injuries at the hands of Guice in incidents on Valentine’s Day and April 17. Guice also broke her cellphone, tossing it in the street.
Guice is facing one count of strangulation which is a felony, three counts of assault and battery and one count of destruction of property.
Guice turned himself in Friday afternoon to Loudoun County sheriffs. The Washington Football Team released him shortly afterwards.
Washington drafted Guice in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Multiple knee injuries limited him to five games in his two seasons with the team. He rushed for 245 yards and scored three touchdowns in his time with Washington.
Derrius Guice went through NFL waivers without being claimed by another team.
