Giannis Antetokounmpo’s night ended early after 10 minutes of play Tuesday night. The Milwaukee Bucks star was ejected for headbutting Washington Wizards forward Moritz Wagner.
The sequence to Antetokounmpo’s ejection started when he was called for a charge, as he barreled over Wagner with 8:50 to play in the second quarter. The play was challenged, as the situation was being sorted out, the two appeared to trade words before Giannis delivered the headbutt.
Antetokounmpo was immediately assessed a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected.
Wagner’s teammate, Bradley Beal, reacted to the incident on Twitter.
Giannis returned to play after missing Monday’s loss to the Toronto Raptors as he underwent oral surgery. He had 12 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal before being ejected. Milwaukee already was without starters Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe in Tuesday’s game.
The reigning MVP will more than likely be facing some type of disciplinary action from the NBA office. Whether its a fine and/or suspension remains to be seen.
