The Washington Football Team was scheduled to hold a scrimmage practice at FedEx Field Thursday. Instead, the team is postponing the practice following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.
Blake was shot seven times after an encounter with police in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Blake’s father, Jacob Blake Sr. told CNN his son is paralyzed from the waist down following the shooting.
With their reported decision, the Washington Football Team joins numerous of teams that have chosen to boycott league games and practices.
The Detroit Lions cancelled their practice Tuesday to protest the shooting. Wednesday, the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks led a boycott of three NBA playoff games. The WNBA’s Washington Mystics led a similar boycott of the WNBA’s three games. Additionally, three MLB games were postponed in protest led by the Milwaukee Brewers.
