The Washington Nationals have place right-handed reliever Javy Guerra on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports. Right-hander Kyle McGowin has been called up to take Guerra’s spot.
Guerra threw 30 pitches Tuesday in relief appearance but grabbed his leg, motioning to the Nationals’ dugout. Manager Dave Martinez said Guerra felt fine as he left the ballpark Tuesday night.
Guerra has a 4.02 ERA with a 1.666 WHIP in 14 games — 15.2 innings pitched — this season.
McGowin has yet to pitch in the majors this season. The 28-year old has appeared in 12 games since debuting in 2018. He has a career ERA of 8.75.
