Cornerbacks Greg Stroman, Danny Johnson reportedly make Washington’s 53-man roster

As the Washington Football Team revamps its secondary, a pair of 2018 holdovers are part of the equation. Cornerbacks Greg Stroman and Danny Johnson have made the initial 53-man roster, according to Ben Standing of The Athletic.

Stroman has consistently flashed throughout training camp. The Virginia Tech product played in 15 games, starting three as a rookie in 2018. But, a groin injury forced him to injured reserve last season. Now, under a new coaching staff and good health, Stroman has had one of more consistent training camps on the Washington roster.

Johnson was steady by all accounts in training camp. He joined Washington in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. Johnson played in 11 games at cornerback and a kick returner as a rookie. But he was limited to two games last season after starting the season on the PUP list with a knee injury.

Like Stroman, Johnson is healthy now. The two were able to impress Washington’s new coaching staff led by defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. The two beat out Aaron Colvin and Simeon Thomas for roster spots.

Stroman and Johnson are expected to slot behind Kendall Fuller, Ronald Darby, Fabian Moreau and Jimmy Moreland on the depth chart at cornerback.
