Juan Soto was unbeatable Friday night against the Atlanta Braves. The Washington Nationals slugger went 2-for-3 at the plate, drove in three runs, scored twice and walked three times in the team’s 8-7 win.
Soto couldn’t even be touch running the bases. The 21-year old got an easy steal in the third inning with an amazing jump on Braves’ starter Josh Tomin.
Soto’s jump was so huge, he was more than halfway to second base before Tomlin kicked into his throwing motion. Soto stole the bag standing up and Atlanta catcher Travis d’Arnaud didn’t even bother rising to challenge with a throw.
It’s hard to argue MASN color analyst FP Santangelo’s claim of Soto having the “best jump ever” in the history of baseball.
The steal was Soto’s 20th of his young career. He is usually clobbering home runs and doubles that the opportunities aren’t as often. But, with jumps like he displayed against Tomlin, it’s evident he could get more bags if needed.
