The Washington Nationals placed infielder Carter Kieboom on the 10-day injured list with a wrist contusion. Kieboom was hit on his left wrist by a 95-mph sinker from Philadelphia Phillies’ Zack Wheeler on Monday. Right-handed pitcher Wil Crowe has been added to the active roster in his place.
X-rays came back negative, but he was held out of Tuesday’s doubleheader. The wrist wasn’t progressing, leading to the Nationals shutting him down for the season with five games remaining.
Kieboom received an extensive look this season, enduring a demotion in the process. He hit .202/.344/.212 with nine RBIs in 122 plate appearances. He posted a 0.1 WAR. His numbers in 2020 were a gradual improvement from his short body of work as a rookie last season.
