Patrick Ewing has landed a huge commitment. Four-star center Ryan Mutombo announced his commitment to the Georgetown Hoyas Sunday evening via Twitter.

Mutombo is listed at 6-foot-11, 235 pounds from The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the son of Georgetown legend and Basketball Hall of Fame player Dikembe Mutombo. His father was a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year before an NBA career that included four NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards and eight All-Star appearances.

Ryan Mutombo is 71st-ranked player in the nation for the class of 2021; 13th among all centers, according to 247 Sports.

He appeared to be a lock to follow in his father’s footsteps by picking Georgetown prior to the coronavirus shutdown. As the summer prolonged, rumors emerged of a late push from Tennessee and its head coach Rick Barnes.

The Volunteers appeared to be a viable contender up until the moment Mutombo revealed his commitment to Ewing and Georgetown. Stanford and Georgia were also among his final four choices.

The addition of Mutombo bolsters an impressive 2021 recruiting class for Ewing. Georgetown previously landed three-star guards Jordan Riley (Brentwood/ Brentwood, NY) and Tyler Beard (Hargrave Military Academy/ Military Grove, VA) and forward Jailin Billingsley (Lutheran East/ Cleveland, OH). The Hoyas now have the 14th ranked class in the nation for 2021, according to 247 Sports.

Georgetown is still strongly pursuing five-star prospect Aminu Mohammed. In fact, Mutombo feels confident he can help recruit Mohammed to the Hill Top.

Meanwhile, Mutombo will follow in a family tradition by playing at Georgetown, just like the sons of Hall of Fame centers Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning, Patrick Ewing Jr. and Trey Mourning, respectively.
