Dwayne Haskins traveled with Washington for Sunday’s game at Giants

Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins did travel with the team to New Jersey for their game against the New York Giants, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post.

Haskins’ status for the game was unclear. He did not attend last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to an illness. That illness kept him out practice Wednesday and Thursday.

However, he returned to practice Friday. Head coach Ron Rivera said Haskins “looked good” in his return to practice. But, it was unclear at the time if he would be able to travel with the team.

Rivera described the illness as a gastrointestinal issue. Haskins became ill last Sunday morning, and was advised to not to attend the game by team doctors. While Haskins reported to the team facility each day for his COVID-19 test, he was sent home shortly afterwards as the team adhered to the NFL’s protocol.

Haskins is expected to be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Giants. He was benched last week prior to his illness to third string quarterback after struggling four games as the starter. Kyle Allen will get his second straight start for Washington. Veteran Alex Smith will serve as the backup.
