Washington rookie OL Saahdiq Charles suffers knee injury on second NFL snap

Washington Football Team rookie offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles made his NFL debut Sunday starting at left guard. Unfortunately, his debut was short-lived, as he suffered a knee injury the second snap of his pro career.

Charles was helped off the field by trainers and immediately headed back to the locker room before later being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Washington drafted Charles in the fourth-round as an offensive tackle out of LSU. A calf injury kept him out of a portion of training camp. He then was hampered by a thigh injury that helped lead to him being inactive for each of the first five games of the season.

After working through his injuries, Washington plugged Charles in at starting left guard this week in place of the struggling Wes Martin.

With high expectations, Charles was looking to carve his name into the offensive line in his league debut against the New York Giants. However, his day was over after just two snaps. Charles was replaced by veteran Wes Schweitzer.
