While rookie Antonio Gibson has emerged as Washington’s lead running back, another young running back Bryce Love has had to watch in the background. Love was placed on injured reserve last month as he experienced swelling in his knee.
He has been eligible to come off IR since Oct. 23, but hasn’t yet to date. That could change soon, as head coach Ron Rivera said Washington is hopeful Love could return soon.
The start of Love’s NFL career has been faced with a huge roadblock. He tore his ACL in his last college game in 2018. He slid to the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft before Washington selected him. The injury forced him to miss the entirety of his rookie season.
His recovery lingered into this year’s training camp. But, he still was able to make the initial 53-man roster. Unfortunately he developed knee soreness, landing him on IR.
Prior to his ACL injury, Love was a sure-fire NFL prospect. Hopefully, the 23-year old continues to progress to get the opportunity to return and play at some point this season.
