With the Washington Football Team in the heat of a playoff race, the team donning fresh uniform combination on the field. Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Washington will wear burgundy jerseys and burgundy pants.
Washington cleverly announced their choice of uniforms via Twitter.
The all-burgundy look comes after Washington wore all-white uniform combination in each of their last two games. The all-white look has been most popular for fans who clamored for the look since the team stopped wearing them after the 2009 season.
Following the ousting of longtime team president Bruce Allen, who prohibited the single-color look, Washington’s first-year head coach Ron Rivera said he was waiting for a big game to break out the all-whites. They did so against the then-undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 that resulted in a 23-17 win for Washington.
They donned them again last week at the San Francisco 49ers, another win, 23-15. Thus returning home, now appears the opportunity to go all-burgundy. Washington will be hoping the new home look garners the same results as the previous two weeks.
Washington (6-7) would remain in first place of the NFC East with a win or a New York Giants loss this week.
