Mohammed made his decision Monday evening, which came down to the Hoyas and Georgia. Indiana and Kansas State were among other notable schools of interest. It’s a decision he admitted to Wyatt D. Wheeler of Springfield News-Leader, he didn’t make until moments before he made his announcement.
“They play NBA stuff,” Mohammed said. “They play with the pick and roll, transition and speaking with the coach, he’s talking about trying to get it on defense and he’s trying to run out on offense in transition. That’s my style — fast and transition. I liked that.”
Mohammed is the first five-star commit for Ewing. He is the highest-rated recruit for Georgetown since Greg Monroe in 2008. He is the 16th-rated player in the nation in the class of 2021 and second among shooting guards, according to 247Sports Composite.
A native of Washington, DC, Mohammed plans to finish his senior season at Greenwood Laboratory School (MO) and won’t enroll early at Georgetown.
The addition of Mohammed adds to an impressive recruiting class for Georgetown. The Hoyas now rank sixth in the nation and second in the Big East according 247Sports. Four-star center Ryan Mutombo, three-star power forward Jalin Billingsley and three-star guards Jordan Riley and Tyler Beard have already committed to Georgetown.
