Chase Young not apologizing for ‘I want Tom Brady’ comments

Washington’s star rookie defensive end Chase Young is not apologizing for his comments of wanting Tom Brady. Following Washington’s NFC East-clinching win last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, Young proclaimed “Tom Brady, Tom Brady, I’m coming! I want Tom! I want Tom” while running off the field.

Young will get his chance as Washington hosts Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday in a wild-card round playoff game.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians heard Young and responded by saying “We’ll have our hands full, but it’s one of those games where you better watch what you wish for.”

Much was made of the Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate’s eagerness to call out Brady by football pundits this week. However, speaking with the media Wednesday, Young didn’t back off his comments.

Who wouldn’t want to go against the greatest quarterback to ever play? Especially, when a young team like Washington is looking to stake claim to their arrival as contenders.

Washington is a heavy home underdog going against “Tompa Bay.” Not surprising considering Washington won the NFC East with a losing record of 7-9. The Buccaneers, the NFC’s top wild card team, are loaded on offense with the likes of Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette and Chris Godwin. That adds to the six-time Super Bowl-winning Brady.

However, Washington has a pretty formidable defensive front that features five first-round picks led by Young. If Young and fellow defensive linemen can get to Brady they’ll even the playing field some for Washington to pull off the upset.
