Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans and cornerback Carlton Davis will be game-time decisions for Saturday’s wild card playoff game against Washington, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians told media Thursday.
Evans hyperextended his knee in Week 17’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, jeopardizing his status for the playoffs. Evans was injured on the following play after he became the first NFL player with seven consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Davis missed the last two games of the regular season with a groin injury. He has been Tampa’s top outside corner this season, leading the team with four interceptions and 18 passes defensed.
Although the Buccaneers have depth at wide receiver with Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown, Evans has been the centerpiece of their passing game. He leads the team with 70 receptions, 1,006 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns.
Washington has the second overall ranked defense in total yards allowed and passing yards allowed. Arians and legendary quarterback Tom Brady would love to have Evans available to counter Saturday.
