The Washington Football Team has expanded their general manager search to five. The latest candidate added comes internally, as the team will interview director of pro personnel Eric Stokes, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Stokes, 47, spent two seasons in the NFL as a safety with the Seattle Seahawks. He has been in NFL front offices since 2002. He joined Washington’s last year coming over from the Carolina Panthers with head coach Ron Rivera.
Stokes spent five seasons in the Panthers’ scouting department. He also was the Miami Dolphins’ assistant general manager for two seasons. He spent nine years in the Seahawks’ front office and two more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to Miami.
Washington has interviewed Tennessee Titans’ executive Ryan Cowden. They plan to interview San Francisco 49ers VP of player personnel Martin Mayhew on Saturday. Mayhew played four seasons with Washington and was previously GM of the Detroit Lions.
Washington has also requested interviews with Los Angeles Chargers director of player personnel JoJo Wooden and Atlanta Falcons director of operations Nick Polk.
