An epic six-point rally in 3.8 seconds lifted the Washington Wizards to a stunning win over the Brooklyn Nets. In a season marred with losses, injuries, and a coronavirus scare, it was good to get a win for once. The relief of victory prompted Wizards head coach Scott Brooks celebrate by downing a White Claw.
“This was the first game all year I had a White Claw,” Brooks said, per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports. “I wanted to enjoy it.”
The Wizards’ win looked more like a defeated for all but the final 12.3 seconds of the game. Trailing by five, Bradley Beal hit a three to cut the deficit to two. Garrison Mathews stole the ball off the inbounds and then Russell Westbrook drained the go-ahead three to floor the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving-led Nets.
All worth the seltzer, right?
As Brooks put it, for once the basketball gods gave the Wizards a break. The win improved Washington to 4-12 on the season. The season has been rocky. So, getting the win in epic fashion allowed Brooks to enjoy sip or two for once.
