Alex Ovechkin is game-time decision for Saturday’s game vs. Devils

The Washington Capitals announced Alex Ovehckin is a game-time decision fro Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils. Ovechkin did not practice Friday for what was described as a “maintenance day.”

It’s unclear the reason he sat out of practice and why he may not be a full-go against the Devils. However, there may be a hint to an ailment the 35-year old scorer is dealing with, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.

Alex Ovechkin has struggled in his 16th season. He has one goal in his last seven games. His 0.40 goals per game average is on pace to equal the lowest of his storied career.

The Capitals are 4-2-1 in their final seven games, including a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday. Washington is currently tied with the Boston Bruins for first-place in the East division with 24 points.
