Washington Nationals starter Max Scherzer looked in mid-season form Monday in his third start of Spring Training. He struck out seven St. Louis Cardinals batters in four innings.
Scherzer’s impressive outing was highlighted by a nasty cutter to chop down Harrison Bader swinging.
Scherzer was dealing with his fastball reaching 97 miles per hour. Through his last two starts, the three-time Cy Young winner has pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out 13 while allowing four hits and no walks on 100 pitches.
The 36-year old hurler is in the final year of seven-year, $210 million deal. After a sluggish year during the pandemic shortened 2020 season, Max Scherzer is showing signs to a bounce back year.
