Washington reportedly showing interest in Patriots WR N’Keal Harry

Despite an active start to free agency, the Washington Football Team is looking to add more talent to bolster its offense. Their search could include the trade market and New England Patriots wide receiver N’Keal Harry has caught the team’s eye.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, Washington is monitoring Harry’s situation. The Patriots are looking to trade the disappointing wide out, seeking an exchange of at least a fourth-round draft pick.

Current Washington general manager Martin Mayhew was in San Francisco’s front office when the 49ers had interest in drafting Harry in 2019, Keim added. At least three other teams are interested in the 2019 first-round pick.

N’Keal Harry has intriguing size, standing at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds. An ankle injury hampered his rookie season, limiting him to seven games. He failed to jell with then-quarterback Tom Brady, catching just 12 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season, the Patriots offense struggled with Brady in Tampa Bay and Cam Newton as the starting signal caller. Harry appeared in 14 games and had 33 catches for 309 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots have revamped their skill positions on offense, and Harry looks to be the odd man out of Josh McDaniels’ offense.

Washington, however, could give the former Arizona State star a fresh start. This offseason, Washington added veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who loves to throw the ball down the field. Washington also added wide receiver Curtis Samuel to pair alongside Terry McLaurin.

Yet, the team still needs a viable possession receiver, who can benefit with McLaurin and Samuel stretching the field. Despite his early struggles, the 23-year old Harry could be an upgrade from current in-house options for Washington as a third option for Fitzpatrick.
