Washington Wizards All-Star Bradley Beal exited Saturday’s game against the Detroit Pistons following a nasty fall near the end of the first half. Beal remained in the game to close the half and returned at the start of the third quarter. However, he exited the game three minutes into the third quarter. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a right hip contusion.
Beal drove to the lane. Just as he lifted in the Pistons guard Saben Lee got in position to draw a charge. As a result, Beal crashed to the floor, landing on his right hip.
Coincidentally, Beal was questionable to play Saturday with foot soreness. However, the NBA’s leading scorer played through the ailment before his fall. He finished with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. He added six assists and three rebounds in 21 minutes.
The Wizards were on cruise control at the time of Beal’s exit. They led the Pistons by 28 points, 74-46 with just under nine minutes remaining in the third. However, without Beal on the floor, the Pistons gained momentum, going on a 31-5 run to close out the quarter.
Fortunately, Washington regained its composure in the fourth quarter, closing out a 106-92 win.
