While the Washington Nationals had their Opening Day game postponed, former National Michael A. Taylor was having himself a great day in his first game with his new team, the Kansas City Royals.
Taylor crushed a fastball from Texas Rangers lefty Taylor Hearn 402 feet into right field. Taylor’s solo blast pulled the Royals within two at 8-6 in the third inning.
Taylor also put the Royals 9-8 in front in fourth inning by driving in the go-ahead with an RBI-single. The Royals tacked on five more runs to win the Opening Day thriller 14-10.
In the end, Taylor had one of his best games of his career. He went 3-for-5 at the plate, driving in a team-high three RBIs with one run scored.
Taylor signed a one-year, $1.75 million deal with the Royals after playing seven seasons with the Nationals. He had 53 home runs, 184 RBIs, and 77 stolen bases with the Nationals. He became the odd man out in Washington’s outfield led by emerging young studs Juan Soto and Victor Robles.
Now, Taylor gets the opportunity to man centerfield for the Royals. He has got off to an amazing start in his new home.
