The Toronto Raptors completed a 19-point comeback to steal the win over the Washington Wizards in dramatic fashion. Down by two with the clock ticking away, Gary Trent Jr. gobbled the rebound off a Raul Neto miss with 4.4 seconds remaining.
Trent raced down the court before drilling the three to beat the buzzer for the Raptors’ 103-101 win.
It debatable if Trent got away with a push off. The officials swallowed the whistle there and Trent came to with the clutch shot at the expense of the Wizards.
Washington lead by 19 points in the third quarter and seemed to be on cruise control. However, the wheels started turning with the Wizards going cold. After chipping away, Toronto went on a 14-2 run to take the lead 91-90 off a Aaron Baynes layup. They extended their lead to 96-90 completing a 19-2 run.
But the Wizards battled back. Despite starting the fourth quarter 0-of-8, Russell Westbrook delivered a big three with 41 seconds remaining to give his team back the lead 101-100.
After Pascal Siakam turned over the ball with a charge with 27.4 seconds remaining, the Wizards failed to gain any cushion. Neto missed a runner, allowing Trent the opportunity to pull off the game-winning moment.
