Thaddeus Moss among five waived by Washington

The Washington Football Team waived five players Friday, including tight end Thaddeus Moss. Moss is the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss.

Washington also waived defensive tackle Caleb Brantley, wide receiver Emmanuel Hall and running backs Michael Warren and Javon Leake.

Brantley may be the most notable name in terms of play in the NFL. Brantley had opted out of the 2020 season with a high-risk designation. He planned to return to play for the 2021 season.

Meanwhile, Thaddeus Moss has the most notable name of the five released not just because who his father is. The younger Moss became a draft favorite for many NFL fans in 2020 following his breakout season at LSU in 2019.

However, health concerns over a foot injury that has lingered throughout his college career at NC State and LSU resulted in him going undrafted in 2020. Washington signed him as an undrafted free agent to much delight of its fans. But it was known he would have to have surgery to address the foot injury.

He was able to recover and get back on the field for training camp. Unfortunately, he looked slow and feeling the effects of the surgery. Washington waived him with an injury designation and after going unclaimed placed Moss on injured reserve, ending any chance he would step on the field during the 2020 season.

While Washington appears intent to add a tight end to complement starter Logan Thomas, Moss won’t be in the team’s plans moving forward.
