Russell Westbrook inched closer to the NBA’s all-time record for triple-doubles. Now with 171 in his career, Westbrook is 10 shy of Oscar Robertson for most ever triple-doubles in NBA history. However, the Washington Wizards point guard reached another milestone in Saturday’s win against the Detroit Pistons.
Westbrook finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for his 25th triple-double of the season. He becomes the first player in league history with four seasons with at least 25 triple-doubles.
He is re-writing the definition of triple-double. It’s a not a matter of if but when he will become the king of the feat. He’s the modern Oscar Robertson and surely cementing his spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Now, the question is if he can move to No. 1 on the all-time list before season’s end?
In his first season with the Wizards, Russell Westbrook has already set the franchise record for most triple-doubles. It took him just 38 games. He’s had 25 this season in a mere 48 games, including 11 in his last 13 games. By his insane rate, it’s hard to doubt he could get 10 triple-doubles in the Wizards’ final 16 games of the season.
