Nationals’ Josh Bell set for MRI after being scratched from lineup

Washington Nationals infielder Josh Bell will undergo an MRI Friday after experience soreness on his right side, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports.

Bell was scratched from the Nationals’ lineup just before Thursday’s 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins. He was said to be feeling better after the game, but the team will air on the side of precaution and go ahead with the MRI.

After starting the season on the COVID list, Bell started off slow. He has since come along as of late. He is hitting .228 on the season with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs.

However, he is hitting .281/.349/.526 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in the month of June. That’s coming off in which he had five homers and 17 RBIs while hitting .264/.312/.483 in May.

Washington has surged to a .500 record of 36-36 after winning 11 of their last 13 games. Kyle Schwarber has belted 12 home runs during that span. The Nationals offense has seemingly picked up, so hopefully Bell’s absence won’t linger much longer.
