It’s safe to call Washington Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber the best leadoff hitter in all of baseball. Playing in just his 18th game as a leadoff hitter this season, Schwarber needed just one pitch to blast his seventh leadoff homer.
Schwarber pulled a 92 miles per hour fastball from Tampa Bay Rays starter Rich Hill 434 into the right field stands of Nationals Park.
Schwarber has now hit 12 home runs in his last 10 games, joining Albert Belle as the only two MLB players do so. He also has hit 16 in his last 18 games. That included two Monday against the New York Mets.
His ridiculous rate of hitting home runs has already placed him in elite company with Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa. Also, he already has the Nationals franchise record for most home runs in a month. Schwarber looks as if he will add more amazing milestones to this power-hitting stretch.
