Seems like Trea Turner and his finger are just fine. The Washington Nationals shortstop put all concerns over his jammed finger in his first at-bat in his return Monday against the San Diego Padres.
After missing four games, Turner crushed a solo blast to the second deck in left field of San Diego’s Petco Park.
Turner jumped on a 94-miles per hour first-pitch fastball from Joe Musgrove to give the Nationals the early 1-0 lead.
It’s been an amazing several days for Turner.
He tied an MLB record with his third career cycle on his birthday back on June 30. Unfortunately, he jammed his finger sliding into third base completing the historic cycle. He left game and the injury kept him out of the lineup for the next four games — all losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sunday, Trea Turner was named to his first All-Star Game. He followed up the selection hitting his 15th home run of the season.
With the “significant” hamstring injury to Kyle Schwarber, getting Turner back was imperative for the slumping Nationals. It’s worth noting he also hit a single in his next at-bat. So maybe just maybe, his hot streak is still going?!
