Father of Nationals pitcher Joe Ross saves fan with Heimlich maneuver during game

The best save during Saturday’s game between the Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants came in the stands. While attending the game at San Francisco’s Oracle Park, the father of Nationals pitcher Joe Ross, Dr. Willie Ross, saved a fan choking on a hot dog with the Heimlich maneuver.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle provides details of the life-saving ordeal. By the way, this isn’t the first time Dr. Ross saved someone during a game.

Dr. Ross is a pediatrician in the Bay Area. He was in attendance to watch one of his two big league sons team play. Unfortunately, Joe Ross wasn’t on the field. The right-hand hurler is currently on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his right elbow. Dr. Ross’s other son, Tyson is currently with the Texas Rangers.
