In their first game back since the All-Star break, the Washington Nationals had a disastrous night against the San Diego Padres. Things unraveled for the Nationals in the second inning. In the midst of the Padres scoring seven of its 24 runs, Washington’s center fielder Victor Robles exited the game.
Robles was checked out by manager Dave Martinez and head trainer Paul Lessard in the outfield before walking off to the clubhouse.
Following the 24-8 loss, Martinez said Robles left the game due to dizziness, per Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports. The team believes it was “heat-related” and hopes he will be fine Saturday.
Temperatures in Washington Metro area rose to as high as 95 degrees throughout Friday. Robles was replaced by Gerardo Parra in center field. Parra went on to go 1-for-4 at the plate, hitting a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
The good news Robles’ early exit was unrelated to a bruised right knee that hampered at the end of June.
