Watch: Victor Robles plays it cool with praying mantis parked on cap

King W. Motley IIINationals3 years ago1 Views

Washington Nationals center fielder Victor Robles had some company Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies while playing during the ninth inning. A praying mantis landed on Robles’ hat while he was in the dugout during the previous inning.

After the inning concluded and Robles headed out to the center field, the praying mantis remained at the top of his hat.

Even as the inning proceeded, the green insect was content on catching all the action while sitting on Robles’ hat. The mantis eventually moved to the brim of the cap. Maybe he wanted to get a closer look to all the action?

At one point, Robles let the mantis know the team had one out in the inning.

Who knew the praying mantis was a late add in the Max Scherzer, Trea Turner trade to LA?

The scene made for great TV and a hilarious moment. Victor Robles played it cool entirely. Unfortunately for the Nationals, the mantis took in a five-run rally by the Phillies in route to a 7-5 loss for Washington.
