Caleb Homesley waived by Wizards

The Washington Wizards waived guard Caleb Homesley, according to the NBA’s transaction log. Homesley’s release continues the Wizards’ roster adjustment. Homesley had signed a multi-year non-guaranteed deal with the Wizards in May.

However, the Wizards have reshaped the team’s roster this offseason. They’ve signed Spencer Dinwiddie to a three-year, $62 million deal and added three players from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Russell Westbrook trade.

With the bulk of the roster settled and the team close to the luxury tax line, the Wizards are cutting loose ends. The team also rescinded Garrison Mathews’ qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Caleb Homesley initially joined the Wizards’ training camp last year on an Exhibits 10 deal after going undrafted out of Liberty. He was later assigned to the Erie BayHawks of the G League. There he appeared in 15 games, averaging 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Now he is a free agent. The Wizards had previously added him to their Summer League roster. The team could still add him on a two-way or another Exhibits 10 contract.
