Watch: Jets RB Ty Johnson deliver a truck stick on Eagles DB

New York Jets running back Ty Johnson is known for his one-cut blazing speed. In college at the University of Maryland, he averaged 7.6 yards per carry through four seasons. In his first two in the NFL he’s at an impressive 4.5 yards per carry.

But in the Jets’ preseason finale Friday, Johnson showed he could lower the boom as well.

That’s Philadelphia Eagles safety Andrew Adams on the receiving end of a truck stick, as Johnson lowered his shoulders at the point of contact. He would score on a three-yard run four plays later.

He finished the game with 53 yards on 13 carries. His longest run of the game was the nine-yard pickup that he trucked Adams.

Ty Johnson was a sixth-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 2019. He was traded to the Jets during the 2020 season. Now, he is looking to make the Jets roster that has some notable names at running back, including Tevin Coleman and rookie Michael Carter along with goal line bruiser La’Michal Perine.
