There are a lot of New Yorkers waking up this morning in disbelief. Their beloved Yankees’ season is done after losing Tuesday’s American League wild card game to hated rivals, the Boston Red Sox.
Any season that doesn’t end in a World Series title for the Yankees is considered disappointing for New York. Thus, the only way to cover the disappointment is to poke a little fun in the sorrow.
That’s what Washington Football Team communication coordinator Charlie Mule did while rounding up the media to end Wednesday’s open portion of practice.
“We’re done, just like the Yankees,” Mule said to the media per Sam Fortier of The Washington Post.
Mule is an alum of Seton Hall and got his masters in communications at Syracuse, started his professional sports career as an intern for the New York Giants. He’s also worked with the Mets and the YES network.
He wasn’t done, as he also took an apparent jab at Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole over Twitter.
Cole lasted just two innings, allowing three earned runs before being hooked by manager Aaron Boone. The Red Sox went on to win 6-2 to advance to the ALDS.
