Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
Oshie is in a walking boot and using crutches, according to Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic.
Oshie blocked a shot in the third period of Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings and hobbled to the bench, according to Samantha Pell of the Washington Post. However, he returned to the game and played multiple shifts afterwards.
The 34-year old Oshie has four goals and two assists in the Capitals’ first seven games this season, including a hat trick on Monday against the Ottawa Senators. He is averaging 17:42 of ice time per game and has a minus-4 rating.
The Capitals lead the Metropolitan division with a 4-0-3 and 11 points. They host the winless Arizona Coyotes on Friday.
