Last week the Dallas Cowboys exposed a little-known NFL rule when Jerry Jones’ team flew in their own benches to FedEx Field, the home of the Washington Football Team.
How would Washington allow that? Well, visiting teams in the NFL actually make the call on what benches they use. The Cowboys went the extra mile bringing in their own with its logo stamped on them.
There was speculation Washington will retaliate with their own set of benches when they play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 in Texas. Even Washington head coach Ron Rivera hinted at the notion.
However, Washington isn’t just targeting Dallas. The Football Team actually brought in their own benches to Philadelphia for Tuesday’s game against the Eagles.
As NBC Sports’ Mitchell Tischler points out, Washington will also bring the benches with them for their Week 18 game at the New York Giants.
An NFC East bench war has been created. It will be interesting to see if the Eagles will join the fray and bring ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ benches to Washington in Week 17?
