Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera called New York Giants head coach Joe Judge’s perceived shot “interesting” but reserved his thoughts when asked Wednesday.
“Well, it’s interesting,” Rivera said per Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. “It is, I’m not going to respond to something that’s interesting. … As far as I’m concerned, we play on Sunday.”
Rivera said he has a tremendous amount of respect for the Giants and owners John Mara and Steve Tisch. But reiterated the two teams play Sunday to close the season.
Judge went into an 11-minute rant following the Giants’ 29-3 loss to the Chicago Bears last week. Trying to describe his team’s morale, he presumably threw a jab at Washington.
“This ain’t a team that’s having fistfights on the sidelines,” Judge said. “This ain’t some clown show organization or something else.”
Judge said on Wednesday he was speaking to his team and not referencing Washington. Coincidentally, his comments come a week after Washington defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne had a heated exchange that resulted in Allen throwing a punch at Payne.
Meanwhile, Judge declined a conference with Washington media, per NBC Sports’ JP Finlay.
Washington (6-10) and the Giants (4-12) close the regular season against each other on Sunday. The Football Team is a seven-point favorite. Washington should rev up matters when they bring their own benches with them to MetLife Stadium.
