Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma sent the NBA world into a frenzy Monday with a monstrous poster dunk on Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid.
After the Wizards’ 120-102 win, Kuzma tried to downplay the moment with a hilarious movie reference, saying “I’m half white so I didn’t really get up that high,” per Hoop District.
The comment drew laughter in the room from the media.
Kuzma, who is biracial, was indirectly referencing the 1992 comedy classic movie “White Men Can’t Jump” starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrison. Since the movie came out it’s a common reference in pop culture.
Menwhile, Kuzma elaborated more on the dunk. He said Embiid jokingly told him if he would punch him in the face if he dunked on him again.
The dunk on Embiid was a long time coming for Kuzma. As a rookie with the Los Angeles Lakers, he tried to put Embiid on a poster but missed the dunk.
It’s safe to say the mission is finally accomplished. Aside from posterizing Embiid, Kuzma finished with 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds in the win. It must’ve been the mumbo sauce…
