Georgetown freshman Ryan Mutombo reacts to not playing

Georgetown freshman Ryan Mutombo is just as puzzled as everyone else. The four-star recruit and son of Hoyas legend Dikembe Mutombo, sat out his second straight game Wednesday night against Marquette.

Following the Hoyas’ 77-66 loss, Mutombo had a simply reaction on Twitter.

Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing acknowledged Mutombo is healthy.

Mutombo has appeared in 21 games. He’s averaging 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. His apparent benching comes after he started on Feb. 12 against Creighton.

Mutombo needs developing but he has the bloodline, frame, and skill set to be a really good player. For whatever the case is, minutes have been hard to come by.

Everyone is frustrated at Georgetown. The Hoyas have now lost 15 straight games. They’re 0-14 in Big East Conference play.

Ewing appears on borrowed time. Fans are taking to Twitter trying to plead their cases to Mutombo and other stud underclassman like Aminu Mohammed to not transfer despite the team’s struggles under Ewing.

One fan wrote, “They can’t make you delete an emoji lol! Decisions are suspect. But know this – Hoya fans will always support you no matter what! Keep your head up. You can ball and you know it.”

A lot has to change for Georgetown. For a promising talent like Mutombo, it will be hard to waste away on the bench and not get a chance to play.
