Russell Wilson trade rumors: Details of Commanders offer to Seahawks

Multiple reports revealed the Washington Commanders made a play for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson with an offer described as “strong” and “competitive.”

We may now know the framework of the Commanders’ offer. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Washington offered multiple first-round draft picks to Seattle. However, the Seahawks declined.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said earlier this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, the team has “no intention” to move Wilson.

The possibility of Wilson being traded was created last year when through his agent, Wilson revealed frustrations with the direction of the franchise. After a disappointing 7-10 season, trade speculation brewed.

It only intensified at the Pro Bowl, when WIlson was seen hanging out with Commanders defenive tackle Jonathan Allen. Wilson grew up in nearby Richmond, Va., making a potential trade seem fitting. It appears a move won’t come to fruition.

However, it’s clear the Commanders are looking for a big hit at quarterback. They are covering every base as head coach Ron Rivera alluded to earlier this week. Wilson is not available, but Washington is sure to continue their search.

There are still some options available. The Commanders reportedly called every NFL team asking about the availability and cost for a quarterback. But the report of their offer for Wilson, Washington is prepared to pay the price for the right quarterback.
