Washington Mystics star guard Natasha Cloud has put the rest of the WNBA on notice with her play and her words. Sunday, Cloud made 7-of-10 shoots, including 4-of-6 from three-point land to score 19 points⊠in the first half.
Cloud nearly outscored the Mysticsâ opponent, the Minnesota Lynx by herself, as Washington jumped out to a 47-23 halftime lead.
When interviewed before heading to the locker room, Cloud let it be known she is going to be more of a scorer as opposed to her custom dime-dropping.
âIâm a shooter,â Cloud proclaimed. âIâm putting the whole W on point Iâm a shooter this year.â
Cloud is in her seventh season with the Mystics. Her career-high for a season is 9.0 points per game. She averaged that during Washingtonâs run to the 2019 WNBA championship.
However, this season her responsibility and role as a scorer has expanded. She scored 17 points along with six assists in the Mysticsâ win in their season opener over Indiana. She shot 6-of-13 in the game. And she also floored a rookie with a ankle-breaking jab step.Â
Thatâs a huge improvement in comparison to her previous six seasons in the league. But, what she did Friday night pales in comparison to the first half she had Sunday against the Lynx.
The WNBA has been warned. Natasha Cloud is dropping buckets this year.
