Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin officially signed his three-year extension that is worth up to a reported $71 million. The signing of the new deal means he has ended his holdout that kept him out of practices during voluntary offseason team activities and Washington’s mandatory three-day minicamp last month.
He missed valuable time to get in reps with his new quarterback Carson Wentz. Now he is eager to get to work.
McLaurin told reporters on Wednesday during his press conference he was leaving straight from Commanders headquarters and flying to California to work out with Wentz and some teammates, per ESPN’s John Keim.
McLaurin will get the chance to get back to some normalcy after staying away from the team from April through June.
“It was weird. I don’t miss practice. I know how important those reps are,” McLaurin said, per Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. “That was really hard for me. But you understand the business and what has to happen.”
McLaurin said the support of his teammates was huge doing his holdout.
All of that is now behind him. He has his new contract. He received a $28 million signing bonus. Now he can focus on football and getting to know his new quarterback on the field.
