Did Juan Soto send message to Nationals with IG post?

Washington Nationals star Juan Soto is in Los Angeles preparing for Monday night’s Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game. It should be a joyous moment for the 23-year old. However, his contract situation sits in the background, after news broke that he rejected a 15-year, $440 million offer from the Nationals.

The Nationals are set to entertain trade proposals for Soto following his third contract rejection. Soto expressed frustration over his contract situation being leaked publicly on Saturday.

On Monday, Soto shared an intriguing post on Instagram that could be interpreted as his feelings over the entire ordeal.

The most interesting part of the video is the background song. “Highest in the Room” by rapper Travis Scott.

Among the lyrics of the song, “She fill my mind up with ideas. I’m the highest in the room. Hope I make it outta here. She saw my eyes, she know I’m gone.”

Those words are frightening to hear for Nationals fans wanting Soto to stay with the club. Yes, the video could just be Soto talking about the All-Star Game and break. But in the new age of social media, athletes have used the platform to illustrate their feelings towards a team. It’s easy to assume Soto’s objective with his post.

Still, it could be a reach. Soto may just be referencing that he will be away from Nationals Park during the All-Star break. The post does end with Scott rapping, “I’m doin’ a show, I’ll be back soon…”

Soto hasn’t scrubbed the Nationals from his account. So there’s hope, he wasn’t referencing the current contract situation. There’s also some hope things could be resolved. The Nationals reportedly plan to make one final offer before trading him.
