Ravens mascot Poe injured, carted off during halftime youth football game

Halftime football games pitting mascots against local youth football players is a fun concept. Just look at how much fun, Atlanta Braves mascot Blooper had on Saturday during a Falcons preseason game. However, it wasn’t as fun in Baltimore for Ravens mascot Poe.

The Ravens had their own version at halftime of their game against the Washington Commanders. Unfortunately, the fun came to a halt when Poe was sacked and injured on a play. The injury was severe enough that trainers had the cart brought out to take Poe off the field.

One would hope it was a joke and part of the act. Yet, that was not the case. Poe was legitimately injured according to multiple reports. The injury nearly delayed the start of the second half.

Darren Hayes of WUSA-9 in Washington, D.C. reports Poe is being evaluated for a possible torn ACL by the Ravens team doctor.

Last season, the Ravens were riddled with injuries. In fact the Ravens were the most injured team in 2021. So to see Poe go down at M&T Bank Stadium just brings back the horrors of a season ago.

Poe appeared back on the sidelines in the second half. But judging by the scene at halftime, it’s safe to assume a replacement manned the costume. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Poe.
