Former NBA player Nick Young had his exhibition boxing match prematurely stopped after going through the ropes and hitting his head.
The stoppage occurred in the fourth of five scheduled rounds. Young fought self-proclaimed celebrity videographer Malcolm Minikon at the Banc of California Stadium. The bout was part of the Social Gloves 2 pay-per-view exhibition.
Young originally was slated to fight rapper Blueface. However, Blueface was pulled from the card as he was unable to obtain a boxing license in California.
Earlier in the night, Le’Veon Bell knocked out Adrian Peterson in the fifth round in a bout pitting the two former NFL running backs.
Unlike the Bell-Peterson fight, Young and Minikon provided more laughs portraying a boxing match.
Young started his NBA career with the Washington Wizards out of USC, playing five seasons in the nation’s capital. He also played four seasons for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Denver Nuggets.
During his career, Young appeared in 720 games. He averaged 11.4 points on 41.8% shooting, including 37.6% from three-point range.
