The Philadelphia Eagles defense was all over its former quarterback Carson Wentz during Sunday’s game. The Eagles sacked Wentz nine times en route to defeating the Washington Commanders 24-8.
The game was dreadful for Wentz as the Commanders’ offense netted 153 passing yards. Washington didn’t have a glimpse of a run game and the team didn’t score until the game was no longer in doubt with 1:55 remaining in the game.
Whether it was Wentz holding on to the football too long or the offensive line getting overpowered by the Eagles, nothing went right Sunday for Washington.
Commanders left tackle Charles Leno Jr. had the perfect no-safe-for-work reaction to Washington’s awful day.
“It’s like we’re constipated, couldn’t get [expletive] going,” Leno said, per JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.
Leno’s comment should have drawn a laugh. But, it perfectly summed up Washington’s performance.
Sunday was Carson Wentz’s revenge game that never happened. Instead, the Eagles got confirmation they may have done right moving on from Wentz for Jalen Hurts at quarterback.
